Just north of trendy Fitzroy, Fitzroy North offers a completely different ambience. Things are less grungy and hipster-ish here. Instead, it’s all about Victorian and Edwardian homes on large blocks, with wide, tree-lined streets and plenty of parks. It’s surprisingly suburban for a neighbourhood so close to the CBD, but you can always pop down to Fitzroy proper or Brunswick Street for hip bars and restaurants.
The 96 and 11 trams are less than five minutes’ walk away and takes 15 minutes to arrive in the city.
Ride sharing apps are a safe and easy way to get around, especially later at night when public transport services are less frequent. Prices are about two-thirds that of taking a taxi, but may surge during bad weather or public events.
